Tomorrow is of course Derby Day and I am all set with my picks. I know you're dying to know, so without further ado, here they are: Monba, Cowboy Cal and Visionaire. I'll be glued to the TV tomorrow during what's been coined as the most exciting three minutes in sports. Cheer on Monba for me, will you?
I just wrapped up a wonderful week yesterday with Sheri Gaynor. For any of your who don't know Sheri, she is really an amazing and gifted woman with so much to offer the world. It was great having her to myself for four days while she was in Cincinnati for the photo shoot for her upcoming book, Creative Awakenings. Sheri's book is a comprehesive guide (but really that sounds so dull; it's more like an interactive, creative adventure) to setting intentions and using artmaking to help you visualize your dreams. I can't wait to see the development of the book come to fruition. Thanks for sharing yourself with me this week, Sheri!
And now, I'm off to Sandusky, to teach at Artiscape. I'll report on my adventure when I return. Have a great weekend!
I've been tagged by the brilliant Jen Cushman to name 7 things about myself. Since I've had this honor several times already in the past, I'll spare you from reading my same old answers (it IS Saturday afterall, and I want you to kick back and have some fun) and will simply provide you with a list of those silly personality tests that I love so much--how's that? (I knew you'd appreciate it.)
You Are Sudoku
You are simple, modern and elegant. You're not that difficult to figure out, but very few people truly get you. You approach the world with a pure logic that most people will never grasp.
Quiet, calm, and totally at peace... You're happy to be at home, wrapped in a blanket, completely snowed in Whether you're lighting a fire or having a snowball fight, you always feel best in the winter.
You may be considered ordinary by some, but you're far from boring. You elevate the mood of any discussion, and people miss you when you're not around. You are secretly very dominant and powerful. Most can only take you in small doses.
Your heart is open and dynamic. You are flexible, optimistic, and expressive. You bring honesty and intimacy to relationships. You're good at expressing your needs to your partner.
Your life is fast paced and varied. You are realistic, down to earth, and very honest. You're often busy doing something interesting, and what you do changes quickly.
You have many facets to your personality, and you connect them together well. You have a ton of interests. While some of them are a bit offbeat, they all tie together well.
You friends rely on you to bring novelty and excitement to their lives. (And while you're the most interesting person they know, they can't help feeling like they don't know you well.)
You are funky, outdoorsy, and down to earth. While you may not be a total hippie... You're definitely one of the most free spirited people around.
You are very impulsive - every day is a new adventure. However, you do put some thought behind all your actions. Still, you do tend to shock and offend people from time to time!
What can I tell you--I just have not felt like blogging life these past several weeks, nor have I had the gumption to share or provide an explanation. I am excited about something however: I am going to be receiving something very awesome for my b-day and you're going to be exposed the results of this soon. (Uh, hopefully . . .)
It's no secret that I love Starbucks. And anyone who really knows me, knows how much I love the holiday season and Christmas trees (especially fir trees). So it shouldn't be any shock that for the last eight years or so, I have been collecting Starbucks tree ornaments. Normally, each year I just hang them along with all of my other Christmas ornaments, but the additions to the collection this year broke the camel's back. I knew I had reached a point where they needed their own spot. This weekend, Dave helped me rig up a three foot tree to be a cute half-tree that can now hang on the wall in my kitchen! Seeing these pretty red ornaments altogether on their own tree makes me happy. I've been having a bit of a harder time than usualy getting into the Christmas spirit this year, but my new little tree is a great start. I think now all I need is to really start indulging in my holiday music collection and of course, to start selecting gifts for loved ones and maybe even a stranger or two. Are you in the holiday spirit yet?
Did you wonder what happened to me? I've been work/blog/routine responsibility-free for the last two weeks and I can't say I minded the break one bit. It was wonderful being able to spend Thanksgiving with my family in Phoenix and also to take one of the best road trips ever with my friend Josie. If you have about a half-hour to spare (okay, I'm exaggerating--it doesn't take quite that long), check out the following slide show of some pics from my trip. I did manage to make several ornaments while I was away, thanks to the encouragement of several of you. After I have recovered from my re-entry into reality, I promise to post again soon. It is the Christmas season after all . . .
Liz prompted readers of her blog to name five really good things, right here and now. This is a great way to start off the day, so here I go.
1. Orange Chocolate Rolled Wafers
2. My first Peppermint Mocha is right around the corner
3. In less than two weeks I'll be in Phoenix with my loving family
4. Our days are finally cool here and I can wear sweaters. I love sweaters
5. Memories of a very special weekend still lingering in my mind, making me smile
